Mikaela Lewis is a junior at Southern Vermont College pursuing a B.A. in Communication. Prior to transferring schools in 2016, she attended Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas where she studied Mass Communication and Advertising with a concentration in digital media and a minor in art & design. A Vermonter at heart, Mikaela jumped at the chance to move back to her home state after previously living in Florida and Texas.
Her background of intensive media-based classes have given her the opportunity to expand her digital skills in both website design/publishing and advertising experience. She is currently the Managing Editor of 'The Looking Glass', SVC's leading online student media publication. She also independently manages and updates the websites and Facebook accounts for local businesses Bennington Holistic Healing Practitioners and Mindful Paths, as well as handling their digital marketing and design needs for local advertisements, rack cards, business cards, brochure handouts and more. She has also led an advertising team during a 15-week media planning course to develop a new marketing strategy for YETI® coolers/drink ware brand in order to target a broader demographic market.
"I must continue to follow the path I take now. If I do nothing, if I study nothing, if I cease searching, then, woe is me, I am lost. That is how I look at it -- keep going, keep going come what may. But what is your final goal, you may ask. That goal will become clearer, will emerge slowly but surely, much as the rough draught turns into a sketch, and the sketch into a painting through the serious work done on it, through the elaboration of the original vague idea and through the consolidation of the first fleeting and passing thought." -Vincent Van Gogh
